Caspian Underwater Infrastructure to Ensure Energy, Transport Stability in Eurasia
Turkmenistan believes that the construction of underwater infrastructure in the Caspian Sea is crucial for ensuring energy, economic, and transport stability in Eurasia, based on equal consideration of interests and benefits, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov said at the first Central Asia–European Union Summit in Samarkand on Friday, as reported by the official media of Turkmenistan. This initiative aligns with the economic interests of all coastal countries and contributes to strengthening energy, transport, and economic stability in Eurasia. Transportation and communications, especially the creation of a sustainable East-West and West-East corridor, were identified as key elements for regional development. In this context, the Trans-Caspian route plays a special role, for which Turkmenistan is ready to provide the capacities of the International Seaport of Turkmenbashi, as well as its own road infrastructure. Cultural and humanitarian cooperation also remains a priority. Turkmenistan highly appreciates the EU's long-standing educational programs in the region and has proposed launching a joint project in vocational education. Other proposals include the activation of scientific research in history, archaeology, and ethnography, as well as the development of ecological and ethnographic tourism programs.
