Dr. Marat Terterov is the founder and principal representative of the Brussels Energy Club (BREC), which he has chaired since its inception in 2012. With over 25 years of experience in international relations — including 15 focused on energy and climate — he has worked across government, private sector, academia, NGOs, and consulting.
An expert in energy geopolitics, security, and political risk, particularly in Russia, Ukraine, the Middle East, and Central Asia, Dr. Terterov holds a D.Phil. in Middle Eastern Politics from Oxford University. He is a fluent Russian speaker with working knowledge of Arabic and is a prolific author of books, articles, and policy papers.
He has advised senior government officials across numerous countries and organized high-level ministerial conferences, while regularly speaking at major international energy events.
