Ms. Jalpa Ratna joined UNICEF Turkmenistan Country Office as Representative on June 07, 2024.
Previously she worked in India Country Office as Chief of Field Services on 11 March 2019. Just before joining UNICEF India, she was a Senior Advisor for UNICEF Headquarters on the Syria crisis.
Ms. Jalpa started her work with UNICEF in Afghanistan in 2002, and since then has worked in different capacities (Emergency Specialist, Senior Advisor, Resource Mobilisation Advisor, Deputy Chief Polio) in different programme contexts ranging from emergency and post-conflict to middle-income, in countries such as Afghanistan, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Kosovo, and Headquarters (New York).
Prior to joining UNICEF, she worked with Oxfam, Mercy Corps and the International Organisation for Migration. She studied Political Science and Development Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. Ms Jalpa also has a Master's degree in Development Practice from Oxford Brookes University and a Master’s in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London.
